It is both a valuable complement and support to mindfulness meditation, as well as a transformative Buddhist practice in its own right. The practice brings many benefits, including greater self-understanding, inner stability, resilience, sense of connection and well-being. In this daylong, we will explore ways to cultivate kindfulness for ourselves and others through guided meditation, short lectures, Q&A sessions, and interactive exercises. Beginners, experienced meditators, and skeptics, ... are all welcome. Nikki Mirghafori, PhD, is an Artificial Intelligence scientist and a Buddhist teacher. Nikki is a multiple lineage holder in the Theravada Buddhist tradition, empowered by the Burmese meditation master Venerable Pa Auk Sayadaw, as well as the Spirit Rock Meditation Center. She is also a Stanford-trained Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) instructor and a UCLA certified mindfulness facilitator. Nikki has taught meditation retreats nationally on a variety of contemplative topics ranging from mindfulness and lovingkindness to death contemplation. She is on the Teachers Council of the Spirit Rock Meditation Center and a Teacher at the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, CA, and serves on the Board of Directors of both organizations. Nikki is of Persian heritage, and in a parallel universe, has been a researcher and inventor in Artificial Intelligence.
