See the trio of misfits subverting traditional Persian music with satirical streetwise lyrics. Established in the early 1990s, Velshodegan (The Misfits) have gone viral with songs that reflect on the social issues facing young people in Iran. Satirical songs commenting on the hot topics of the day were historically part of the Persian music scene, and were performed predominantly in musical theatres or classical plays. After decades of neglect, the style has been revived by the three virtuoso musicians behind Velshodegan. Singer and tar player Mehran Fallahi is joined by Behzad Hassanzadeh on the kamancheh and Mohammad Nobahar on vocals and the tonbak.
